ABOUT
At JMT Accountancy, we offer more than just once-a-year accounts. We work closely with our clients throughout the year, often meeting monthly to review their figures, understand their business performance, and provide practical advice before problems arise. Every client is different, so we take an individual approach and tailor our services to suit their specific needs, goals, and stage of business.
Our services include bookkeeping, tax planning, Self Assessment, company and year-end accounts, payroll, workplace pensions, VAT, Making Tax Digital support, and business growth advice. What makes JMT Accountancy unique is our personal, proactive, and supportive approach. We explain things clearly, help clients make confident decisions, and focus on building long-term relationships rather than simply completing compliance work.
We are proud to have received numerous awards recognising our different approach, business growth, and commitment to supporting the local community. Our values are built around trust, accessibility, professionalism, and genuine care for the people and businesses we work with.

Our Mission
At JMT Accountancy, our mission is to make accountancy clear, personal, and genuinely valuable for every client we support. We aim to go beyond traditional once-a-year accounting by working closely with our clients throughout the year, helping them understand their numbers, stay compliant, plan ahead, and make confident business decisions.
We believe every client deserves an individual approach. That is why we tailor our services to suit each business, whether they are a start-up, sole trader, limited company, charity, or growing SME. Our mission is to provide professional advice with a personal touch, building long-term relationships based on trust, honesty, and practical support.

CASE STUDIES
Supporting a Start-Up Business
A new business owner came to JMT Accountancy with an idea but was unsure how to set everything up correctly. We supported them with choosing the right business structure, registering with HMRC, setting up bookkeeping software, understanding tax responsibilities, and planning for cash flow. By working with them from the beginning, we helped them avoid common start-up mistakes and gave them the confidence to manage their finances properly from day one.
Helping a Growing SME Understand Their Numbers
One of our growing business clients was working hard but did not have a clear picture of their profit, cash flow, or future tax position. Instead of only reviewing their accounts once a year, we began meeting with them regularly to review their figures, explain what the numbers meant, and identify areas where costs could be controlled. This gave the client better financial clarity and helped them make stronger business decisions.
Taking the Stress Out of Payroll
A client with a growing team was finding payroll, pension duties, and HMRC submissions increasingly time-consuming. JMT Accountancy took over their payroll process, including payslips, PAYE, RTI submissions, starters and leavers, workplace pension calculations, and ongoing compliance. This allowed the business owner to focus on running the business while knowing staff were being paid correctly and on time.
Supporting Self-Employed Clients with Tax
A self-employed client approached us because they were unsure what expenses they could claim and were worried about submitting their Self Assessment tax return correctly. We reviewed their income, expenses, records, and tax position, then prepared and submitted their return to HMRC. We also gave practical advice on keeping better records throughout the year, helping them feel more organised and prepared for future deadlines.
Business Advice Beyond Year-End Accounts
A limited company client originally came to us for year-end accounts, but after reviewing their business, we identified that they would benefit from ongoing advice. We supported them with tax planning, bookkeeping improvements, payroll, VAT, and business growth discussions. By taking a more proactive approach, we helped them move from simply meeting deadlines to understanding and improving their business performance.
Supporting Community and Charity Organisations
JMT Accountancy also works with charities and community-focused organisations that need clear financial advice, good governance, and reliable support. We help with financial reporting, bookkeeping, payroll, planning, and practical advice so these organisations can focus on delivering their important work in the community. Our experience in both business and community support allows us to provide advice that is professional, practical, and people-focused.
Debts with HMRC
A client came to JMT Accountancy after receiving debts and penalties of around £15,000 due to accounts not being submitted correctly. The situation was causing significant stress and financial pressure, and the client was unsure how to challenge the amount owed.
JMT Accountancy reviewed the case in detail, checked the background, identified the issues, and communicated with the relevant authorities on the client’s behalf. By preparing the correct information, explaining the circumstances clearly, and challenging the penalties professionally, we were able to help the client successfully overturn the debt.
This case shows the value of having the right accountant on your side. At JMT Accountancy, we do not just submit accounts — we support clients when things go wrong, help resolve problems, and work hard to protect them from unnecessary costs.
Helping an Overwhelmed Business Owner Regain Control
A client came to JMT Accountancy after being wrongly advised that they could not run a limited company. They were extremely stressed, overwhelmed, and felt unable to cope with the pressures of running their business. Their accounts were not properly organised, and the lack of clear advice had left them unsure about their responsibilities, tax position, and future options.
JMT Accountancy took the time to understand the full situation and provided calm, practical support. We reviewed the accounts, corrected the records, dealt with outstanding matters, and explained everything clearly so the client could understand what needed to be done. We also helped put better systems in place for bookkeeping, tax planning, payroll, and regular financial reviews.
With the right support and guidance, the client was able to continue trading through a limited company, regain confidence, and focus on growing the business. Today, their accounts are managed smoothly, deadlines are under control, and the business is in a much stronger position.
This case shows how JMT Accountancy supports clients not only with accounts and tax, but also with reassurance, practical advice, and a personal approach when business feels overwhelming.
